The third event of the Do Big Symposium season 9 presented by Tata Tele Business Services & powered by CNBC-TV18 was held in Ahmedabad at Hyatt Regency on October 14th, 2016. The event commenced with the keynote delivered by Mr. R S Sodhi, Managing Director - GCMMF Ltd. He provided his perspective on digital technology for milk cooperatives and introduced the term ‘C2C’ i.e Cow to Consumer. As the keynote address concluded, Mr. Prateek Pashine, President Enterprise, Tata Tele Business Services took the stage to present Tata Tele Business Services’ view on Digital Dividends: A Leader’s Perspective. This was followed by the highlight of the evening, a panel discussion on “Digital Dividends: A Leader’s Perspective”. The panel consisted of Prateek Pashine, President - Enterprise Business at Tata Teleservices Ltd, Piruz Khambatta, Chairman and Managing Director - Rasna Pvt Limited, Vishal Rajgarhia, Director and CEO – Finecure Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Achal Bakeri, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Symphony Limited. The panel brought their thoughts & experiences to the table and put forth their views on the topic. The event was brought to a close by a vote of thanks and summary of the evening’s proceedings delivered by Abhimanyu Radhakrishnan.

An architect by training, Mr. Bakeri completed his graduation from the internationally renowned School of Architecture in Ahmedabad. Member of high-level Ministry-Industry Consultative Committee(MICC) constituted by Ministry of Food Processing Industries to give advice on issue to do with food processing to various government committees, MEMBER MICA-EDC ADVISORY COUNCIL ,Member “Food Processing Education Council” constituted by National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) and Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT), Member advisory council Vibrant Gujarat, Government of Gujarat and independent Director of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals. Mr. Khambatta’s relentless dedication and foresight to take his company to greater heights has won him the prestigious ‘Dadabhai Naoroji Millennium Award’ 2003, in recognition of his achievement as Young Entrepreneur. Also, the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) has conferred the ‘AMA - Zydus Cadila Marketing Man of the Year Award’ to him in 2004. Mr. Khambatta has been conferred the “Kashalkar Memorial Award”, for the year 2005, for his outstanding contribution to the development of Food Processing Industries in the Country. The award was presented to him, by Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon’ble Union Minister for Food Processing Industries. This is a very prestigious award given by The All India Food Processors Association, for exemplary work done by individuals in the field of Food Processing. He has also received ‘Professional Excellence Award’ 2009 from Rotary Club, Ahmedabad. Mr. Khambatta has been conferred “ Asia Pacific Entrrepreneurship Award 2009 instituted by Asia’s most prestigious entrepreneurship award, instituted by Enterprise Asia a very premier Asian NGO with governing board comprising of past and present Ministers of Asian countries. Mr. Khambatta is Founder Trustee of Areez Khambatta Benevolent Trust which is specially being set up to work together with various NGOs, like minded institutions in ensuring maximum possible help to underprivileged in terms of medical and education aid etc. and involved in various CSR activates. The Trust is also tied up with Blind Peoples Association Ahmedabad on a project titled “Save sight Ahmedabad” and under this project many eye camps and eye surgeries have been done. It is pertinent to note that the Trust was set up as a CSR arm of Rasna Group much before the Company law was amended to make CSR mandatory and also the amount at higher level than stipulated by law.
Shri R S Sodhi, age 57 years, is Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (AMUL), which is India’s largest Food Products organization with a turnover of Rs.23005 crores. GCMMF (AMUL) markets dairy and food products under the popular brand name “Amul”, Asia’s largest milk brand which is owned by 3.6 million milk producers of Gujarat. Shri R S Sodhi has more than 34 years of rich experience in Marketing and Sales function with GCMMF (AMUL). He has been instrumental in taking ‘Amul’ brand to dizzying heights that it has scaled today. Shri R S Sodhi has taken over as MD, GCMMF five years back and has taken GCMMF (Amul) on growth and has increased its turnover from Rs.8000 crores in 2009-10 to Rs.23005 crores (187 %) in 2015-16. Shri R. S. Sodhi has an excellent understanding of product management and advertisement functions. He has engineered the expansion of Amul’s product portfolio, inspiring launches of several innovative and pioneering products, which has helped brand Amul to retain its leadership, in almost every segment in which it operates. Under his leadership, Amul has unleashed some of its most creative advertising campaigns, helping it to further enhance the equity of this brand. He has also been actively involved in creating a pool of managerial talent in the country. He has been a visiting faculty at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand, for more than two decades. He has always been forthcoming in sharing his wealth of experience, at innumerable International and national seminars.
