1] What is Quick Finder Navigator?
It is a mobile application that provides automated turn-by-turn automobile directions using location based technology.
2] When and where should I use the navigation application?
The navigation application is designed to support automobile navigation. The routes generated by the navigation application assume an automobile as the method of transportation. The application is not intended for use for trains, buses, walking, or other methods of transportation when generating a route.
3] The QuickFinder Services are available in which cities?
This service is currently available in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
4] What are the features of the navigation application?
- Turn-by-turn automobile navigation with voice prompts
- Directory Search: Find businesses around a location using GPS
- Send Location or Send Points of Interest: Send your location or a business location to friends using integrated SMS
- My Location: See your current location on a map
5] What is the difference between the Maps application and the Navigation application?
The primary difference between the applications is that the navigation application provides automated turn-by-turn directions using GPS. These directions include voice prompts for upcoming turns and automatically advancing to the next turn.
The map application will generate turn-by-turn directions, but will not provide voice prompts or automatically advance the directions to the next turn.
In both applications, the user has access to a database of Points of Interest that will show the user where shops, landmarks, parks, and other points are. Each point has its address available and many of the points also have their phone numbers listed, with a link that easily allows the user to click on the number, leave the application, and call the Point of Interest.
6] On what handsets is this application available?
This application is available on Moto Razr and Blackberry 8830.
Currently only LBS enabled Moto Razr's can support QuickFinder Navigator and Maps. To verify whether his/her Moto Razr can support the applications, customer will need to follow the steps outlined below to check the software version of the device:

7] The QuickFinder Services are available in which cities?
This service is currently available in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
8] On what handsets is this application available?
This application is available on Moto Razr and Blackberry 8830.
9] How do I put the application on my handset?
Go to Tata Zone on your handset and download the 'Indicom Maps' application from the 'What's New' section.
10] How can I tell if the applications are on my handset?
Look in the TATA Zones section of your device. If the application is downloaded to the device, it should be available for you to use.
11] The application is loaded: now what?
Select the application icon to launch it. The application will run and will show the main menu.
12] What are the soft keys and what do they do?
There are two primary soft keys, left and right. These keys provide actions to use in the application.
13] What does the menu item "Navigate" mean?
The application will calculate a route to a destination based upon your
current location.
14] What does the menu item "Plan Route" mean?
This function allows you to select a destination as well as a starting point that
may not be your current location. The route will be displayed for you to review.
15] How do I enter a destination I want to go to?
When you select either "Navigate" or "Plan Route," you will be asked to choose your Destination. You will have the following destination entry options:
- Recent
- Favourites
- Address
- Post India Codes (PIN)
16] How do I use Recent?
If you select RECENT, you will see a list of the last 10 locations used within the application. Using the phone controls, you can scroll up and down to select the desired location. By selecting the location, the application begins navigating to that location from your current location. The user also has the option of selecting Menu using the Right Soft Key. From the menu, you can choose from several options:
- SELECT: the application will navigate to the selected location.
- DETAILS: to see information about the location. If the location is a POI, the POI data will be shown (address, phone number, name, etc.).
- SAVE: the location will be placed into the FAVOURITES folder.
- SEND: the location will be sent via SMS text message.
- HOME: to return to the MAIN MENU.
17] How do I use Favourites?
From the Main Menu, the user can select FAVOURITES. A list of saved locations will appear (your saved locations will appear in favourites). You can click on the desired favourite and begin navigating immediately, or choose Menu using the Right Soft Key select the following options for the selected favourite:
- SELECT: the application will navigate to the selected favourite.
- DETAILS: to see information about the location. If the location is a POI, the POI data will be shown (address, phone number, name).
- SEND: the location will be sent via SMS text message.
- HOME: to return to the MAIN MENU.
18] How do I enter an Address?
To use the address entry, you must know the destination's:
- State
- City
- Street Name
- Street Number
- You also can enter only the State and the City and the application will route you to the geographic center of the city.
- Once this information is entered into the application, you can save the address as a FAVOURITE and not have to re-enter the address the next time you want to go to that destination.
19] How do I enter a location I want to see a map of?
In the Navigation application, you can select CURRENT LOCATION from the Main Menu. You will see your current location and you can also see other locations such as Recent or Favourites.
20] How can I see my route?
When the navigation application presents a route, by default the application will display a turn-by-turn view similar to the screenshot below. In addition to the turn-by-turn view, by selecting the left soft key you can change the view to a map view, or a list view (which will provide the directions in a line by line view).
21] What are Turn-by-Turn directions?
These are navigation directions that guide the user maneuver by maneuver. The instructions are both spoken and show on the screen as a single page item. The user also can see the directions in a list view.
22] How can I turn off the voice prompts?
From the Main Menu, select Preferences. Go to the Audio Settings and select the option that turns off the audio.
23] What are Points of Interest?
Points of Interest (POI) are businesses, landmarks, and other places that are part of a database that you may want to know how to find. You look for POIs using Directory from the Main Menu.
24] What do I do with POIs?
Once a specific POI is selected, the user can select the menu option using the right soft key to navigate to that POI, call the phone number for the POI, find details about the POI, or send a SMS text message to some one with the details about the POI plus information the sender may want to provide.
25] What is directory search?
Directory search enables you to search for POIs by name, address, or category based on your current location or other selected location.
26] Why do I some times have to enter a start point after I enter my intended destination?
If the application is unable to get a location using GPS on your handset, the application will enables you to go into "Manual Mode." This feature enables you to manually enter the starting point (which can be an address, a POI, or a favourite location) so the application can route to the selected destination. Manual Mode enables use of the application even if GPS is not available.
27] What does "GPS not available. You may continue in manual mode" mean?
Once the user has selected a destination, the GPS system will try to determine the location of the mobile device. This message means that the mobile device could find its current location using the GPS system. You may select "Retry" by using the Left Soft Key which will force the application to try again to determine its location. You may also select Manual using the Right Soft Key, which will let you to enter the starting point of the route manually. The user can use recent locations, favourite locations, or manually enter an address to set the starting location.
28] What does "Cannot Connect to Server. Retry?" mean?
This code means the mobile device could not communicate with the wireless carrier's network. The device needs this connection to retrieve maps, routes, and Points of Interest. This code frequently is caused by the types of things that typically interrupt mobile services.
29] What are some of the common causes that affect the application's performance?
This is a partial list of things that can prevent the application from performing:
- Low Battery
- Wireless connectivity is impaired
- GPS hardware cannot get a fix on the device
- Wireless traffic congestion
- Bad weather can affect the GPS hardware
- Phone firmware conflicts
- Use of other applications at the same time
30] What does the "Send Feedback" option do?
This option is used for you to report any bugs, feedback or enhancements associated with the application. The application provider receives feedback and reviews it. In case of bugs, the application provider reviews the feedback and determines if it needs to be added to future releases. In case of feature enhancements, the application provider will consider them for the product roadmap.
