As a build-up to the Tata Environment Month, the TTSL Prakriti teams across circles observed one full week as the World Environment IMPACT Week, from 31 May 2010 to 4 June 2010. Tata Teleservices Limited, like each Group Company, promotes responsible corporate citizenship and greener living. Towards this, the CS team had planned various Environment-related activities to create awareness, ownership and involvement amongst TTSL employees. The objective of the week-long events was to spread awareness about the environment and motivate people to become responsible citizens. The build-up began on 31 May 2010 with a Slogan Writing Competition. A Total of 195 responses were received. On the second day, 1 June 2010, a Painting Competition/ Art out of Waste Competition was organised, in which all employees, their spouses and children participated  and made  Paintings on environment issues and Art objects out of waste material. 2 June 2010 marked Green Day when Sale of plants was organized at all circles. A total of 600 plants were bought and adopted by TTSL employees across circles. This was followed by an Environment Quiz in which a total of 390 responses were received.

Finally came the IMPACT DAY that concluded the Environment IMPACT WEEK at TTSL on 4 June 2010. Circles were given three options to choose from–Tree Plantation, Cleanliness Drive and Nature Trail. 18 circles participated in Tree Plantation, where a total of 1200 saplings were planted, 2 circles organized Cleanliness Drive, 3 Circles went on Nature Trail.  A total of 1000 employees volunteered to create a greener world.

As a part of TTSL’s tie up with Attero for responsible disposal of E waste, TTSL has managed to dispose of 9.8 tons of electronic waste so far.

All the circles are shifting to recycled paper usage for various purposes in a phased manner. Visiting cards are being made from recycled paper. About 10 Circles have switched to printing billing envelopes on recycled paper and the other Circles will switch to the same in near future.

The organization is working on the recommendations of the Carbon Footprint study carried out by TQMS for estimating the carbon footprint of TTSL.

On the Education front, we have formally inaugurated four knowledge centers run by our partner organisations in the month of June. These centers are spread all across India and are using internet connectivity as well as computers provided by TTSL.

Inauguration of AMBA CEEIC Center at Bangalore which will be carrying out data entry work for Cameo, the partner organization of TTSL Bangalore is slated for this month. AMBA CEEIC works for the economic empowerment of intellectually challenged persons and trains them to carry out data entry work.  TTSL is supporting AMBA CEEIC by providing them data entry work as well as 34 internet connections to its centers located across India.

SOS Children’s Villages of India which is one of our partner organizations for CS initiatives celebrates 23rd June as ‘SOS Day’.  TTSL carried out an all employee campaign encouraging them to sponsor the education of children as well as take out time for volunteering.

Under Drishti project TTSL has identified few potential candidates for our call center located at Dehradun. TTSL is looking to partner with some organisations to provide training and suitable employment opportunities to the underprivileged youth of the country in the Telecom sector. Our partners will train shortlisted candidates on soft skills and TTSL will impart Telecom related Training.
